2021 – Present - Elections of the Future: Improvements to the Brazilian Electronic Voting System

- Description: The objective of the project is to propose new processes and solutions for the Brazilian electronic voting system, incorporating emerging technologies for security, transparency, and usability. The artifacts produced should have the capacity for incremental evolution: the expectation is the construction of a family of solutions that can be designed and implemented gradually, further modernizing the voting process used in Brazil. The focus of the improvements sought is mainly to bring greater ease of use, cost reduction with a level of security at least equal to the existing one, guarantee of vote privacy, and strengthening of audit and information traceability processes.
2021 – Present - Public Security Test (TPS) of the Electronic Voting System.

- Description: This project aims to evaluate the security of the Brazilian electronic voting system, considering hardware, software, and process aspects, before, during, and after the Public Security Tests (TPS) promoted by the Superior Electoral Court. It is expected that this evaluation will be able to identify vulnerabilities, flaws, or potential areas for improvement involving the integrity and secrecy of votes, promoting a system more resilient to failures and attacks.
2021 – Present - Research and Innovation in Emerging Information Technologies

Description: This project, conducted in collaboration with Bradesco, seeks to explore emerging technologies with the goal of building innovative solutions for the banking sector. Activities involve identifying technologies of interest and gaps in the state of the art, and then proposing solutions for these gaps. Examples of technologies explored include technologies such as Blockchains and related distributed mechanisms (e.g., Distributed Ledger Technology - DLT, and distributed hash table - DHT), smart contracts, advanced cryptography schemes (e.g., zero-knowledge proofs), mechanisms for building secure enclaves (e.g., using technologies such as Intel SGX and AMD SEV), quantum computing, and Artificial Intelligence. - This project is a continuation of the previous project "Security in Electronic Transactions". This new project will address four research and innovation themes, namely: 1) "Capturing, processing, and analyzing customer data with the objectives of personalization, value creation, and adaptation to the customer lifecycle"; 2) "Intelligent Systems: ontologies, sentiments, and memory in specific contexts - Personalization and Continuous Learning"; 3) "Representation of digital currencies and assets aimed at secure trading"; 4) "Scalable conversational systems capable of adapting to different computing infrastructures".
